Dyson DC33 vacuum, bad clutch or clutch belt (North Hills)

Dyson DC33, worked well until the brush stopped turning. Suction is still pretty decent, so you could just use it as a rather outsized Dustbuster without needing to do anything to it, but if you want the brush to turn, that's going to be a big project.
It is NOT one of the easy quick repairs that can make the brush not turn: it is not the belt you can reach, it is not dog hair built up under the belt, it is not the bearings at the end of the brush needing some oil, etc. It IS probably either the clutch itself going bad, or the clutch belt (the little belt that passes through the clutch) needing to be replaced.
Replacement clutches cost more than it's worth putting into this, generics are $50 and don't have a great reputation. There's a belt kit that's more like $15 but would still be a LOT of work to install and is especially hard without some sort of special factory service tool. If you're thinking of claiming this and don't fix vacuums for a living, do look up what the job would entail first. We did, and then spent the $15 on a working vacuum cleaner at the thrift shop instead. Anyone have a use for this one before it goes in the trash? You're welcome to claim it for parts, but you do have to take the whole thing if that's your plan. Curbside pickup.
