self designed and built chainsaw mill. i wanted a way to saw smaller logs into useful boards for woodworking projects. i tried the granberg/alaskan style mills, but found them too difficult to set up and use. i wanted one that i could use while standing upright, that would cut 12 or 13” wide logs from about 16” long up to about 7’ long (which is as big as i’d ever use for a woodworking project) and which would start without pulling a rope. there was nothing like that available except for bandsaw mills that would break the bank. so i designed and built a chainsaw mill myself. it works darn well. mostly steel construction, two pieces of track to run on (both 6’,) an 84 cc super 925 xl chainsaw modified to start with a battery operated drill, crank adjustable height, and you can do it all while standing up, no crawling around. i posted a couple pictures (i have videos of it in use, they won’t load on craigslist, but if you want to see them, call or text me and i will forward them to you.) if you want to cut some logs that are too nice to end up in the firewood pile, check this out. (by the way, i also have one of those alaskan mills, have not used it for years, with the 66 cc pioneer chainsaw still mounted on it, it’s for sale too if you prefer the cheap, hard work route.)
