This year I am getting a lot of calls from prospective clients that are solely price shopping rather than seeking quality and experience. I have been working on ONLY pools for 30 years in 2026. I do not cut grass on the side, I am not a flunky landscaper trying to make a few extra dollars, I am not a store that uses kids that have no experience and do not give a care about their work ethic or quality. I am not a new "pool builder" that watched some youtube videos and think they are a pool builder after one or even a few seasons. No, I am not a family friend that only built their own one back yard pool. ALL of these people WILL screw up your pool or liner install and you will have zero recourse. I build with the mindset that you will NEVER have any problems.
No, it is NOT as easy as the people say on youtube. There are a lot of details the videos do not tell. There are some fine details and techniques that may be applicable to only your particular pool because each build is unique in some aspects. The video makers make money from video views. Many of these instructional videos do not tell the whole story. I know, I have watched many of them. They make their money by YOU watching their "sensationalized make it look easy" videos.
I am insured and I AM a military engineer and I DO have 29 YEARS experience in working on ONLY pools. If you want the BEST and trouble free install or repair of your pool, call me. Otherwise, spin the roulette wheel and take your chances with the friends, neighbors, stores that use unskilled/foreign labor and grifters. I've seen all of it happen in the past. You get what you pay for just like anything else in life. I posess hard earned knowledge and do things that even other "experienced" pool installers do not know about. College level physics, mathematics and decades of experience make a difference in quality and longevity.
In short, If you want the highest price (you pay for a store to do it with ALL their overhead and subpar laborers) or lowest price (scammers and addicts usually as I have seen this situation happen personally more than a few times) use them. BUT...

Yes, I build better than the stores because I do not rush your pool to get to the next job. I take my time and make sure it is done right the first time to within 1/8" or less of accuracy (ingrounds)
Experienced at steel w/liner(standard shapes or free form), plastic w/liner(standard shapes or free form) or wood w/liner wall construction. Yes, wood. If built properly it will last as long as steel.
Also, on ground steel wall pools with deep end are also an option. (Like a kayak pool but with steel walls and wooden deck all around)
