Hello! We are currently looking for our newest family member, preferably a small to medium sized, young (1-4 years of age roughly), house-trained, spayed/neutered dog (this isn't a must and can be taken care of by our vet, but I'd prefer it, especially if a female over two years of age due to the risk associated with mammary carcinoma). We do have a large fenced-in yard and I work from home, so I plan on having a space set up right next to my desk for my coworker<3 We have also looked at shelters, HOWEVER, I fell in love with one girl and her adoption fee was $300 and she was already spayed. Our furbabies are priceless, I get that and am NOT asking to pay $50 for a dog, but with the cost of a new pet and the vet check that should happen immediately and shopping spree on all of their new goodies to make them comfortable and happy, as well as any classes for socialization or obedience that may be needed, I won't pay that. Again, I'm not bashing people who do and think that no one could ever afford a dog if we had to pay what they are truly worth, but figured I would post here to see if this seems like fit for anyone. We have 3 guinea pigs so the dog would have to be good with other animals, and my children are both teenagers. We would be taking our dog to the same practice that our pigs go to, but would utilize PVSEC for any emergencies or times when a specialist is needed. Ideally, I'd love to welcome a new member into our family around December 26th due to being off of work myself for a week along with school break, so we would have that time to bond. Again, I have no problem with and expect to pay a rehoming fee, but have an idea in mind that I feel is reasonable and did not feel that $300 was it.
