I have a TX4 (4-channel cat5 XLR transmitter/splitter) and a MiniRX (4-channel cat5 receiver). Connect them with a shielded cat5 cable, and the possibilities are endless! If you don't know about these, warning, you'll get hooked. They are infinitely flexible snake systems that run over cat5. They come in rack mount form, mini, and the standard drop box, with options ranging from xlrm/f and trs.
Some common uses:
- extremely lightweight xlr/trs snakes
- line/mic splitters (say you want to run IEMs live, you can give yourself a copy of the signal before handing it off to front of house)
I simply have collected too many of these wonderful little gadgets, so I'm thinning the herd.
