Elkhart silver plated mellophonium. When I bought it in the mid-1980's, I bought it as a mellophone. Everyone in band called it a mellophone, also call a marching french horn. However, someone who claims to be an expert assures me that that designation is not correct and that it is a mellophonium. Google tends to support his claims. Whatever it is, it is almost like new and plays perfectly. Native key is Eb, but it has an slide extension that conveniently converts it to the key of F.
This horn was purchased new from Hewgley’s Music Shop in Knoxville, Tennessee. This horn has probably not been played more than 15-20 hours. Almost perfect condition. I have not polished it. The Bach 9A1 mouthpiece is also nearly brand new, similar to a trumpet, and comes with a plastic case. Paid $450 forty years ago.
The Elkhart case is not as pristine as the horn, but in excellent shape, having survived over a dozen moves since that time.
Cash in hand only please. I can usually meet where convenient.
