A private school in the Pittsburgh area is looking for a dependable, skilled maintenance technician to assist with the day-to-day upkeep of our campus and small construction projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a variety of work and takes pride in doing quality repairs the right way. We are looking for someone who is reliable, works independently, and is interested in a long-term working relationship. For the right person, this position has the potential to grow into a regular, long-term facilities role with increased hours and responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
* General building maintenance and repairs
* Drywall patching and painting
* Basic carpentry
* Door, lock, and hardware repairs
* Installing shelving, whiteboards, and other fixtures
* Ceiling tile replacement
* Minor plumbing repairs (faucets, toilets, drains)
* Minor electrical repairs such as replacing switches, outlets, and light fixtures (within your qualifications)
* Furniture assembly and moving
* Small renovation and improvement projects
* Other maintenance tasks as needed
We're Looking For Someone Who:
* Has at least 5 years of hands-on maintenance, construction, or handyman experience
* Can work independently with minimal supervision
* Takes pride in neat, professional workmanship
* Is dependable and shows up when scheduled
* Is honest, respectful, and communicates well
* Can troubleshoot problems and find practical solutions
* Has reliable transportation
* Has basic hand and power tools (preferred)
* Is looking for a long-term working relationship rather than occasional side jobs
Compensation:
* Competitive hourly rate based on experience
* Steady work
* Flexible schedule
* Opportunity for additional hours and responsibilities as the role grows
To Apply, please reply with the following:
* Your name and phone number
* A brief description of your experience
* The types of work you do best
* Your desired hourly rate
* Your general availability
* Whether you have your own tools
* Photos of 3–5 recent projects you've completed (if available)
Please also answer these questions:
1. What repair or project are you most proud of completing, and why?
2. What types of work do you prefer not to do?
3. Have you worked in occupied buildings such as schools, offices, or apartment buildings?
4. Are you comfortable working from ladders and lifting up to 50 pounds?
5. When could you start if selected?
Please do not apply if you are looking only for occasional side jobs or if you typically juggle multiple handyman jobs and cannot commit to a consistent schedule. Generic responses such as "I'm interested" without the requested information will not be considered.
Applicants selected for employment will be required to successfully complete all required background clearances due to the school environment.
