Each mug measures 3" wide at the mouth, 3 3/8" at the base, 5 1/2" high and weigh 1.58 lbs.
An etched ship is on one side of the clear glass mug with descriptions and historical facts on the opposite side.
Clipper Mug : First built in 1450, Clippers were considered the most beautiful and romantic of all sailing ships in the mid 1800's. The 200 ft. long ship brought tea to the U.S. from China, wool from Australia, and took passengers to California during the 1849 Gold Rush.
Brig Mug : The Brig was considered a Pirates' vessel, but was built basically for trade with South American coffee, West Indian sugar, and lumber. The average length of a Brig was 90 to 100 feet.
Schooner Mug : The Schooner was built before the American Revolution. It carried fruit, timber, coal and salt, and was also used to raid the British during the War of 1812. Its average length was 275 feet.
Barkentine Mug : The Barkentine was very popular around 1880, replacing the Schooners. The ship was 150-175 ft. long and sailed primarily in the Pacific Ocean where wind and weather conditions were best.
