Frankie’s Friends Cat Rescue is looking for a person who loves cats and wants to help us in our mission of bringing low-cost and free veterinary care to cats in our community. We perform over 8,000 spay/neuter surgeries each year in our stationary clinic and mobile surgery unit and have cared for hundreds of sick and injured animals. We are dedicated to helping community cats (those who have no “owners”), including Trap-Neuter-Return to end cat overpopulation and homelessness. Although we are not a shelter, we often have multiple cats that require prolonged treatment or are not well enough to return to their colonies in our care. After rehabilitation, and until loving homes can be found, they stay with us at our clinic building and in our CARE center down the street.
We are seeking individuals on a part time basis that can help with care of the cats in the clinic. This requires working with unsocialized or semi-socialized cats as well as lifting bags of litter and cleaning cages/colony rooms daily, general cleaning of the clinic, wrapping surgical packs, and other tasks. Someone with vet tech/assistant experience would be ideal, as the cats may need medicated at times when the veterinary technicians are not available. We also need assistance on our stationary clinic days for patient intake/discharge and customer assistance.
This position can become full-time for the right person, who can transition into the population manager and be in charge of monitoring the health of the cats, communicating concerns to the medical team, and participating in daily rounds with other team members to make sure our clinic cats receive the best care while awaiting new homes, as well as helping with the intake/discharge of feline patients and customer assistance at our high volume spay/neuter clinics at the New Kensington building.
