A cute, sturdy antique oak rocker. IF YOU ARE LEARNING TO CANE A SEAT THIS IS PERFECT FOR A FIRST PROJECT.
It is heavy oak construction with baluster-turned woodworking -- the areas to be caned are rectangular -- the best shape for caning is a square or rectangular opening.
Really cute and will stand up to use by kids -- a guestimate is the right size for children from about 4 to 8years old -- of course a petite child could use this much longer.
I have taught many classes on seat weaving & am so busy with my own work that I will sell this for a low price so that someone gets a chance to replace the caning. -- If in the future I were to complete the caning I would sell this chair for its market rate of$200 to $250...
The wood is excellent, but as shown in the pictures the canework on the seat and back must be replace
