A woven cut-pile rug, 100% dyed wool on a jute backing featuring the Disney characters Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Pegleg Pete. The rug measures approximately 44"x 26.5".
Pegleg Pete's first appearance as Mickey Mouse's foe was in Steamboat Willie (1928), the first cartoon to make successful use of synchronized sound. That's the one that made stars of both Pete and Mickey, though in neither case was it the character's first appearance. Mickey had been in only one previous cartoon, Plane Crazy, but Pete already had a three-year history behind him. The rug is pre-1939/Walt Disney Enterprises. It has been stored in a dark attic, however with no heat, the back is stained from moisture. As you can see in the pictures, there is no water/moisture damage to the front of the rug. The coloring is excellent. There is no label or tag, however you can see where the label was attached. To the right of the bottom corner of the label "shadow", is where the tag was attached.
