Qualifications: An MS or Ph.D. in one of the biological sciences is required. Education degree or experience is neither necessary nor sufficient for this position. Strong background in molecular biology concepts and laboratory techniques is required. Must have a driver’s license.
Responsible for Pitt-Kits program during academic year
Duties are focused on maintaining a fully-functional Outreach Program which aims to serve local schools by providing educational programs that bridge current science content with required Pennsylvania academic standards. This involves traveling to schools and working with participating teachers to refine and implement novel classroom curriculum. These visits may be with or without the mobile lab, or may occur as school field trips to our University lab.
Duties include:
Work with Director of Outreach Programs to refine and update classroom modules
Prepare materials for Outreach Program
Coordinate supplies purchases and materials inventory with those for K-12 programs and summer workshops
Oversee and schedule Outreach Education Associates (undergraduate and graduate student assistants)
Packing/delivering Pitt-Kits
Designing and implementing program evaluation tools
Administrative responsibilities, database management, website updates, photo and video documentation, Act 48 management, correspondence with teachers, tracking and event scheduling.
Represent the department and University at science competitions and exhibits.
Summer Programs
During the summer (May – August) duties are focused on the design and execution of summer programs that make current science accessible to the community. These programs include workshops for teachers and programs for students.
Duties include:
Participate in the development of new workshops
Supervise the workshops during workshop sessions and at other times when the facilities used are open to participants.
Prepare materials and equipment for workshop exercises.
Test workshop procedures as required.
Prepare workshop handouts.
Maintain equipment, supplies and laboratory in good condition.
Recommend acquisition of new workshop equipment if needed.
Administer Act 48 hours and maintain database
Generate program brochures, mailings and participate in application review and notification

Applicants should have some college level chemistry courses or a degree in chemistry with some related experience in a manufacturing/testing facility. You will also be required to complete testing specific to this client to ensure the ability to perform the job. Attention to detail and the ability to operate various pieces of equipment to manufacture and test paint are required. Some overtime may also be requested.
(1) Assist in TEM sample prep, imaging and analysis who has the capacity to utilize the high end equipment at CMU.
(2) Assist in the same for XRD as well as work on developing new methods (particularly in thin film work and textural analysis)
(3) Overall – interact more closely with the R&D groups than has typically been the role of Analytical here. Preferably a PhD that is already literate in the material science/physics field and can help choose appropriate samples, choose the appropriate strategic analytical path and compile data from multiple techniques into a cohesive report.

Qualifications
To be considered for this role, the candidate must have at least a Bachelor's Degree, coupled with at least 3-5 years of Pharmaceutical/Medical sales experience. Candidates must have a valid driver's license issued in one of the 50 States and a clean driving record. Ability to travel as necessary, which may include overnight and/or weekend travel is required. Candidates must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Preference will be given to candidates with sales experience in a hospital transplant centers and securing formulary approvals for a product. Candidates with documented sales awards and achievements are also preferred. Preference will be given to candidates living within 30 miles of the posted geography.
